Q. What is the skill requirement in order for my child to play travel soccer?

A. FTSC Travel is an inclusive competitive program with emphasis on player development, players should have an understanding of soccer that is appropriate for their age and should have some experience playing soccer in a competitive or recreational level. Players and teams are placed into leagues/divisions commensurate with current and future development goals.

Q. What type of commitment is expected for travel soccer?

A. The commitment to a travel soccer team is more extensive than that required of a child who plays on a recreational team. Travel soccer is a two-season commitment with games being played in the fall and the spring. On average, practices are held twice a week with games scheduled for Sundays, normally from around 11:30am to approximately 6:00pm. Some away games may require travel of up to an hour. In addition, there might be some make-up games on Saturdays or even during the week, but these are not the norm.
Finally, in a typical season, teams enter one or two tournaments per year.

Q. What are the benefits of having my child play travel soccer?

A. Your child will have the opportunity to play against teams affiliated with New Jersey Youth Soccer member leagues. MNJYSA has over 80 clubs, 900 teams and more than 12,000 players and EDP has an even greater membership for advanced play. The soccer game is played according to the FIFA Laws of the Game. FTSC offers licensed coaches, professional trainers, commitment to individual players, and a fun and highly competitive environment.

Q. How long is the season and how many games are usually played?

A. The full season would be Fall and Spring, up to 10 games long in each. The Fall season is typically from mid-September thru the end of November. The Spring season begins mid-March and ends early to mid-June. Of the games that are supposed to be played during each season, half the games are played at home (Sampson G. Smith School Fields or Middlebush Park Fields) and the other half is away.

Q. What is the cost associated with travel soccer?

A. The cost associated with Travel Soccer includes the cost of registration with league affiliate and NJYS (which includes supplemental accident insurance for the players), referee fees, professional trainer (10/20 sessions per season, including the facility), one tournament per season, along with some team-related equipment. The full-season fee for a season is different for Elite travel and Premier travel teams per year which includes a $100 work bond.  A half-season fee (typically Spring Only) is determined by which type of travel program are is your child aligned to (EDP, MNJ) also includes a $50 work bond. Work bonds will be refunded back if your family provides 4 service hours to the Travel Division.   Please review the registration page for details on prices for travel programs.  These fees DO NOT include the cost of uniforms. The cost of a full standard uniform kit is approximately $115.

A financial support option is also available for those who qualify. Financial support application linked here: FTSC Travel Player Family Support form.docx

The Cancellation Policy for our Travel Program is ans follows: all Travel fees paid are non-refundable unless approved by the Board. The Board will only review cases resulting from extenuating circumstances put forth by the team administrators (coaches, team staff).  These cases are subject to a 20% cancellation fee applied to any Board approved refunds to cover club costs and processing fees.
